Terms of service

These terms are between the company named in the footer of this site and the organisation whose domain was verified at signup. The person who signs up warrants that they may bind that organisation. Where an organisation has its own purchase agreement with us, that agreement takes precedence over these terms.

Bugtail receives error, log, trace and metric data sent by your applications, stores it, and makes it available to the people you authorise. What each plan includes is set out on the pricing page and is enforced by the software from the same definition.

We may change the service, including adding and removing features. A change that materially reduces what a paid plan includes will be announced at least thirty days beforehand, and gives you the right to terminate without penalty within that period.

The data you send remains yours. We process it on your instruction, as described in the data processing agreement, and we do not use it to train anything or sell it to anybody.

You are responsible for what you send. That includes making sure you are allowed to send it, and scrubbing whatever your application logs that should not leave your building. Our scrubber removes a fixed list of field names before storage; it cannot remove a secret you wrote into the middle of a log message.

You are responsible for your accounts: who you invite, which roles you give them, and removing people who leave.

Prices are in euro and exclude VAT. Subscriptions start on the first of the month; the days before that are charged pro rata in the first payment. Collection is by direct debit or card through Mollie, and every collection produces an invoice.

Going over a plan quota is refused rather than charged, unless you have switched overage on. Where you have, the excess is billed once, after the month, at the rates published on the pricing page.

A failed collection does not end the agreement immediately. We retry and tell you; if it stays unpaid, the organisation falls back to the free plan rather than being locked out.

We aim for the service to be available continuously and we do not promise that it will be, except where a separate service level agreement says otherwise. Planned maintenance is announced. Ingest is designed to degrade rather than fail: if the dashboard is unavailable, events are still accepted and queued.

You can cancel at any time from the billing screen. The organisation falls back to the free plan at the end of the paid period; nothing is deleted on that day. You can ask for erasure whenever you like, and then the bucket is deleted and the database dropped.

We may suspend or end an account that is being used to break the law, to attack somebody, or in a way that endangers the service for others. Where the situation allows it, we say so first.

Neither party excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

Otherwise our total liability in any twelve month period is limited to what you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data, save where the loss results from our own intent or gross negligence.

Bugtail is a monitoring tool. It is not a safety system, and it must not be relied on as the only means of detecting a failure in a system where a failure causes harm.

Belgian law applies. Disputes go to the courts of the seller registered seat, unless mandatory law gives you the right to bring them somewhere else. Before that, write to us: almost everything is resolvable by somebody reading the message.
