Bugtail speaks the Sentry envelope protocol, OTLP and a plain JSON endpoint. The SDK you already have keeps working, unchanged.
Change the DSN and deploy. Your existing sentry-laravel, sentry-javascript, sentry-python or sentry-go carries on exactly as it did, and the first event lands within seconds. Nothing is rewritten, nothing is wrapped, and there is no agent to install on anything.

Where your data sits, and who can reach it.
A stack trace carries the arguments a function was called with. A request context carries headers. That is not telemetry, it is your customers data, and where it sits decides which law reaches it.
One jurisdiction, not two
The company, the servers and the buckets are in the EU. There is no American parent that can be served an order for data held here.
A bucket of your own
Not a prefix in a shared bucket. Your payloads sit in storage created for your organisation, which is also why erasing them is one call rather than a sweep.
Named processors
Five companies can see anything, and all five are listed. Four are in the EU. The fifth is Cloudflare, an American company that carries every request on its way to us, and it is named for exactly that reason. Slack and Teams are opt-in per alert rule, because those leave too.
Questions people actually ask
Do I have to change my SDK?
No. Bugtail speaks the Sentry envelope protocol, so an official Sentry SDK reports to it unchanged. You change the DSN in your environment file and deploy. If you use OpenTelemetry, point the OTLP exporter at us instead; that is also one line.
Where exactly is my data?
The application and the database run on servers in Germany. Your payloads (stack traces, request context, breadcrumbs) go into an object storage bucket created for your organisation, in an EU region.
What does it cost when I send more than my plan allows?
For errors, nothing: every plan records as many as you send. What a plan caps is the storage for their stack traces, and the log lines, spans and metric readings per month. Overage is off by default: past a quota plus a ten percent grace, further log lines, spans and readings are refused and counted, and once storage is full errors are still recorded, only without their trace. Every screen says so loudly. Turn overage on and the excess is billed once, after the month, at the rate on the pricing page.
Is Bugtail open source?
The connectors are, and they stay that way: the SDKs and the protocol readers are the part you install in your own application, and you should be able to read that. The hosted service itself is not open source any more.
Do I need a VAT number to sign up?
No. It is optional, and plenty of customers do not have one. If you do have one from outside Belgium and it checks out against VIES, VAT is reverse charged and we charge you none.
Why do you want my domain name?
Because a company name is not unique and a domain is. It means your colleagues can join without waiting for an invitation, it keeps two companies called Delta from ending up in each others projects, and an abuse report can be answered with a fact instead of a guess. One TXT record proves it.
